Article critique related to reliability, validity, and scale analysis.
The practice of quantitative research not only involves statistical calculations and formulas but also involves the understanding of statistical techniques related to real-world applications. You might not become a quantitative researcher nor use statistical methods in your profession but as a consumer, citizen, and scholar-practitioner, it will be important for you to become a critical consumer of research, which will empower you to read, interpret, and evaluate the strength of claims made in scholarly material and daily news.
For this Assignment, you will critically evaluate a scholarly article related to reliability, validity, and scale analysis.

Reliability and Validity in Research
Reliability and validity play a crucial role in research. They justify the measures and approaches taken by the researcher(s) to ensure the data findings are report conclusions are accurate by ensuring the data collection method is valid and reliable. The two, validity and reliability, are concepts used for evaluating the quality of research. They show how a technique, method, or test was used in measuring something. Reliability also shows the consistency of a particular measure, while validity entails the accuracy of the measure. In his study, Johnson (2014) has utilized and justified the two concepts.
Construct of Scales in a Clear and Concise Manner by the Author
Johnson (2014) constructs scales in a concise and clear manner. In outlines that determining construct validity was done by evaluating the extent to which a test measures a construct or the trait that was it intended to measure through a factor analysis. In this study, Johnson (2014) developed the SAI and used it in measuring the 12 standards of professional development as formulated by the NSDC. The measures conducted showed that the SAI is an effective and reliable measurement tool.
The researcher also utilized a Likert-type survey method in the collection of quantitative data from 522 certified educators in New Jersey. Data collection was done through the SAI survey instrument. This shows that the author constructed scales in a clear and concise manner, as the instrument was online and anonymous since he used a Likert-scale tool. Validity was achieved by ensuring the collected data was distributed to schools so that they would grant permission for the data to be used by the researcher. Response to answers was done on a 5-point scale that was effectively constructed in a concis...
