Veterans in Management Profile

Essay Instructions:

This week you will complete the Profile essay. Be sure to read this week’s lesson and Chapter 5 in your text for more information about writing profiles, keeping these key components in mind:

Profiles take a specific angle that shares a significant issue, important contribution, or surprising quality of a person, place, or event with which you have first-hand experience.

Profiles are not full life stories; instead, they share a fresh perspective on a larger issue.

Profiles require writers to take a close look at a subject and use detail and description to bring the subject to life.

The subject of the Profile should focus on a local person you know, a place you have visited, or an event you have attended, meaning the subject should be a part of your local neighborhood, community, or town.

The audience of the Profile essay is the local community. Imagine the readers as neighbors and local community members.

The best topics and angles are those that are interesting to the writer. Be sure to choose a subject that is fascinating to you and that you'd like to learn more about. Also consider that your chosen subject and the angle you choose should be of interest to your audience.

Do not conduct outside research for this essay. Instead, use your knowledge of the topic and reflect on your experiences to help develop examples for your profile. All work must be original, not copied from external sources. This is an opportunity for you to get feedback on your voice and style as a writer.

Veterans in Management Profile Your Name University Name I’m a retired veteran from the U.S. Army that transitions from the military to the company listed in to management and currently pursuing a degree in the Bachelor of Arts in Global Supply Management. Joining the military is not for the lighthearted. We were taught to live up to Army values and carry the true faith and devotion to our country. One part of a military skill set is to master the act of detailed cooperation involving thousands of people and different military units to create the most effective strategy that is currently available in our disposal. These include personnel coordination and supply chain management where deliberate actions of a single person greatly contribute to the overall success of preserving our civic rights and fulfilling our civic duties. As a veteran, I would like to share a significant issue concerning the career options available to military service members that re-enters civilian life. Although, there are many opportunities that await a veteran, the transition to any management service should be further considered since veterans have the proper experience that is often identical to the experience needed to fulfill any management position. In my case, I have a straight forward experience in transporting, tracking and delivering different equipment and ammunition together with setting an efficient strategy in managing the coordinated efforts of the people involved. This experience creates a suitable attribute to qualify in pursuing a career in global supply management. The problem now with transitioning veterans is how to transpose our skills in military logistics to business management in general. It poses a great challenge since most of the veterans are found buffering during their re-entry in the civilian lifestyle. I learned that my skills can be incorporated in the management processes; however, I'm also aware that my knowledge in management can be further improved by taking up a Management degree. In my experience, studying in a business school is effective in easing the transition of veterans during re-entry. The parallel between the skill sets gained during the military service and the skills present in business schools is useful in the transition. Although business management and the military varies in culture, such as the difficult technicalities in terminologies and presenting my own voice to the people to sell myself, this is a ch...
