Brief Company Overview
UPS is a company that specializes in logistics, packaging, and delivery. It is one of the biggest logistics companies in the world and continues to set the pace in the field. The company was established almost a century ago and continues to perform exemplarily, given the stiff competition in the logistics industry and the increased technological evolution over the years since its establishment. As part of its broad business, the company deals in ocean and air freight, insurance brokerage, and financing (Forbes,n.d.). With such a long history in the industry, the company is doing many things right by making strategic business decisions that last the test of time.
The company’s customer base
The company has quite a broad customer base, ranging from big companies to individuals. According to Yamanouchi (2022), Amazon is the biggest customer for the company, and that means almost the entire clientele of Amazon. There has also been quite a surge in the company's customer base due to increased demand for packaged deliveries during and immediately after the pandemic. To this end, it is clear that the company serves businesses and individuals. This is a product of the relentless improvement of the company's business strategy. The company has embraced a business approach, ensuring a collective responsibility for the entire management and workforce. This is through having key employees own a part of the business (Alonso, 2022). There is also a commitment to staff discipline, as each employee is drawn to the company's long-term vision. There is also a commitment to quality and professional customer service that follows the basics of good logistics, such as proper packaging, effective communication with the client, and timely delivery.
