GM labeling potentially influences purchasing behaviors where the consumers have access to information. As there more details on food safety and pesticide residue in GM and non-GM foods this information may affect the choice of unlabeled and GM labeled foods. Food labels may influence consumer demand through information and signaling, and genetically modified (GM) text labeling is one aspect of the food product labels (Yeh, Gómez & Kaiser, 2019).
