With the advancements in science and technology, the use of social media has increased to an extent. Today, more and more people turn to these platforms to communicate with friends, to meet new people from across the globe, to respond to queries of their customers or employees, and to get their responses recorded regarding a particular economic, social or political issue. Just like adults, the dependence of children and teenagers on social media has also been increased. In fact, teenagers in the digital era have become a topic of enormous importance. Everyone seems to be busy discussing whether children and teenagers should be allowed to use social networking websites or not. The average age for having social profiles keeps getting younger with time, and this is a matter of great concern. The fact is that most parents do not stop their children and teenagers from using social media. They develop their Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles, spend the whole day on the internet, lose their interest in studies, and eventually get vanished in an imaginary world that is good for nothing. The fact is that parents should limit the use of social networking websites for their teenagers as their excessive use can impact family relationships to an extent.

Teens today are the only generation that does not imagine life without the internet, mobile devices and social networking websites. As a child grows up, he learns how to use the internet to find study materials, how to use a mobile phone to call friends and family members, and how to create social media profiles to have some fun during spare time. As time passes, he grows up using his electronic gadgets and becomes habitual of using social media every day. According to Nabih T. Abdelmajeed, teens consider social media far more critical than their studies, families, friends and even food. Across the United States, over 2 million teenagers leave their parents’ houses and decide to live in separate apartments just because their relationship with their elders gets weakened due to the excessive use of social media. They cannot live without chatting with friends on Facebook, without tweeting and without uploading photos on Instagram. Many of them reportedly refuse to live with their parents as they cannot live without social media and their mobile devices (Abdelmajeed, 2018). When parents try to make them understand that these platforms are meant to be used for study purposes, they, instead of listening to them and understanding their point of view, begin arguing and eventually decide to separate their ways. Unfortunately, this trend has become common in not only the United States but also in Canada, Europe, Africa, and Asia. In simple words, we can say that social media urge teenagers to stay in isolation so that they can view their favorite materials or content.
Adult Content Displayed Through Social Media Advertisements
According to Sladjana Zukovic and Senka Slijepcevic, companies and brands have started using social media to promote their products and services, and they consider it an easy and quick way to attract the potential customers from across the globe. Products made for children and teenagers, such as paid mobile apps and games, clothing, accessories and skincare items, are promoted through adult social media advertisements and odd types of marketing strategies (Zukovic & Slijepcevic, 2015). Teenagers get easily attracted toward the ads that contain female photographs or some other things of the similar type. In such a situation, parents should sit with their teenagers and make things understandable in a friendly environment. A study conducted by Judy Trucano reveals that parents imposing things on their children or teenagers do not get the desired results. The statistics presented in this study also indicate that hundreds to thousands of teenagers turn to social media to view such advertisements (Trucano, 2010). On Facebook, for example, different beauty products are sold through glittering and adult ads, and it is very easy for such brands to engage people and to generate more and more revenues. Teenagers begin ignoring their parents whenever they are stopped from viewing such things on social media. This problem can be solved only when parents stop showing arrogance and make things understandable politely and humbly. If it does not happen, then the family relationship may get impacted to an extent.
