Public relations response postures are strategies that build a mutually positive relationship between an institution and the public. This paper gives hypothetical examples to explain denial, diminishment, rebuilding, bolstering, and diversion responses. Lastly, the essay identifies a sports organization, the posture it used, its results, and a better alternative it could have used.
Denial response aims at removing the link between the crisis and the company. This strategy involves refuting an accuser renouncing and blaming others. For example, when a group of individuals claims that a company's product has negative effects, the crisis communicator can confront the people by threatening to use a lawsuit. State that an issue does not exist or blame the problem on another group outside the company. Additionally, the diminishment response tries to reduce attributions of administrative control over a crisis. This strategy involves justification and excusing (Saini, 2022). For example, if a company wants to lay off its workers, the institution may give an excuse that it is due to a pandemic or government guidelines. The crisis manager can then try to minimize the apparent damage by showing how the cost of losing a few people is more desirable.
Rebuilding postures aims at mending the organizations' reputation. The foundation designs Words and actions that benefit shareholders and offset the negative impacts of the crisis.
