A code of ethics consists of guiding ideologies for organizations and professionals to assist them in carrying out different undertakings fairly and honestly. For decades, numerous codes, including the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) and the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) code of ethics, have served society's concerns in the US. However, this paper will reflect on the ASPA. With several guiding principles, ASPA has played a significant role in fostering public workers' obligation to better ethics of moral practices. Among its fundamental principles, the discussion will consider principle 1: "Advance the Public Interest. Promote the interests of the public and put service to the public above service to oneself” (ASPA, 2017).
