The transportation and logistics field is among the major industries that plays a big role in the world economy. It is divided into several sectors such as such as ships, taxis, trucks, warehouses, airplanes, courier services and logistics. In 2013 Plunkett Research conducted a study whose findings estimated the transportation and logistics’ revenues to be $950.6 billion (Plunkett, 2013). Despite these huge revenue estimates, there are several trends that have emerged within the field in the recent past. One of that emergent issue is technology.
The last decade saw technological advancements in almost all sectors. Transportation and logistics field is one of those sectors that are enjoying these new technologies.
