Technological changes are attributed to most of these disruptions. This paper discuses technological solutions impacting supply chains and their applications in project management. Cloud Solutions Cloud solutions have become a transformative force in project management, offering significant advantages in accessibility, collaboration, and efficiency. Technological advancements complement different phases of organizational operations, and business leaders embrace these changes quickly. According to Stephens (2022), current gaps in many businesses in the construction industry can be bridged by using cloud technology. The construction industry has not recorded significant growth in productivity for many years. Cloud solutions provide hyper-fast network connectivity that is better than or equal to traditional in-house networks. The construction industry should consider integrating current technological advancements into its operations. Cloud technology is a significant tool that helps project managers solve various challenges during project planning and implementation. Stephens (2022) states that cloud solutions can help in risk management, project management, project accounting, and payroll management. Cloud accounting solutions provide real-time snapshots of past and current project finances that assist in making smarter project bids. This helps identify potential issues before they become significant problems that will halt the project's progress. Cloud solutions can also track expenses and time spent on projects so that employees do not spend much effort on administrative tasks. The Internet of Things (IoT) The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a significant technology with far-reaching applications, including its use in project management. IoT can be termed as the interconnected network incorporating physical devices that are embedded with sensors, software, or other technological software that facilitate firms in data collection and exchange. Chris Guest, the founder and CEO of LightBug, reports that businesses can boost their projects’ success using IoT. The five considerations for a successful IoT project include location, cost, data, deployment, and management (Guest, 2023). Geographic coverage and mobility determine the project's location and the devices' costs. Project managers should never factor in the cost of the picked technology at later stages because it may outweigh the value generated and drain the company’s resources. IoT also requires effective deployment and management to yield the best results. One of the key advantages of IoT in project management is the ability to monitor project activities and assets in real-time. Sensors and GPS trackers attached to construction materials can track their location, usage, and performance anytime. IoT technology also enhances automation in project management. Automated data collection eliminates the need for manual input of information, which can be time-consuming and prone to errors. For example, many projects deploy multiple teams or departments at once. IoT helps in facilitating automated communications between systems (Alahi et al., 2023). If one team completes a task, an IoT-enabled system can automatically update other relevant departments.
