[professor]One of the key indicators that measure organizational progress is job performance. This key indicator looks at the task accomplishment of employees and evaluates the job done according to the job description. Organizations assign tasks to their employee depending on the department and position they belong in. Employees' job descriptions will assist an employee in his/her job performance. Job descriptions indicate the specific activities and responsibilities that an organizational position holds. There are two different performances that an employee must conform to. The first performance is the task performance where the organizational responsibilities and activities of an employee are defined. For instance, an employee assigned in the human resource department has a task to organize recruitment events like job fares. The second performance is the contextual performance which leans more on the tasks that relate to other job performances. It may include workshops and seminars that further develop organizational skills and other tasks that contribute to the overall progress of an organization (Wright, 1997).
On the other hand, organizational commitment is the emotional attachment to the employing organization. Organizational commitment contributes to the level of performance of an employee. This attachment is categorized into three different types. Affective commitment is an employee's own willingness to stay and be dedicated to the organization. this type of commitment allows an employee to enjoy the work and learn comfortably.
