In workplaces where servant leadership is applied, employees develop a perception that both leaders and low ranking employees are treated fairly and justly (Burkus, 2010). This is because the views of all employees can be voiced and heard. Servant leadership is a very new concept in work places and is not practiced by many (Burkus, 2010). The idea of servant leadership is that the leaders including supervisors and managers are deemed as part of the work team and not the head. This idea is not common and therefore the shortage of organizations applying servant leadership. Organizations use servant leadership to create a sense of authority and responsibility. By creating a sense of authority employees feel empowered to increase innovations and work harder.
Discussion
The use of servant leadership has profound impacts on organizations. Benefits are immense such as; the leaders are able to share their knowledge, experiences and expectations on a personal level with employees (Knisley, 2014). This kind of sharing equips the employee with minor resources which are not available in traditional leadership styles.
