Instructions:
Prepare a summary of the key things you learned about management from working with your team on the Exercises throughout the semester as well as what managerial interaction lessons you learned from working as a team to compile those exercises into your final team presentation. Provide feedback on the material used in the course. You can use a bullet format. Please address the following six questions:
- Which topics that were covered in the team exercises were the most interesting and/or most impactful in helping you to better understand management concepts?
- How would you describe the interactions among you and your team members in reaching consensus on the worksheets you prepared? Were these productive discussions? How did you resolve disagreements? Did everyone routinely participate in the exercises?
- How do you feel about the team project presentation your team developed? Do you think it was good quality? If not, why not? If yes, why yes? How did your team approach the preparation of the final team project? Was this approach effective? Was it efficient? What would you change about that approach if you were doing it over again to improve the quality of, and/or to reduce the amount of time necessary to complete, your project?
- Based on your interactions with your teammates, what style of manager do you see yourself becoming in the future, describe? Question 1
Exercise 2 on identifying a new business to manage was impactful. I learned that the existing businesses had not addressed all the needs. As a result, I can create a new business to address those needs. The team exercise on motivating employees was outstanding. I discovered that lacking employee motivation could increase employee turnover as employees consider other more motivating places. I also enjoyed exercise 9 on engaging employees. I learned ways of ending employees, which will help me better become a manager in the future. Lastly, Exercise 11 on value-based management: ethical dilemma was an eye-opener on the need to adhere to values when making decisions.
Question 2
The interactions among the team members were engaging. The discussions were constructive, which allowed us to reach a consensus despite the disagreements we had along the way. While disagreeing, we did so respectfully, allowing members to express themselves. Before finalizing the worksheets, we had a session where members could raise their issues on areas of concern. We would listen to the concerned parties when conflicts emerged and then discuss the issue. This allowed all the members involved to feel that their issues were addressed well. Group members participated routinely in the exercises. This allowed all the members to feel ownership of the exercises.

The team project presentation is of high quality. Before we started preparing the paper, we took time to brainstorm about the instructions. This allowed us to understand what was required of us. We then proceeded to undertake extensive research using class materials and other credible materials. Once we agreed on the way forward, we delegated tasks and roles to all the members. We identified areas of strength of every member and allocated them to maximize their output. Our approach was effective because it allowed people to focus on areas they understood better.
