The law requires employers only to ask job-related questions during an interview. According to Rassas (2020), some of the interview questions that are prohibited by the law include questions that may disclose information about the membership of the interviewee to a protected class. In fact, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) provides that questions about an interviewee's race, sex, religion, age, marital status, nationality, or color should not be asked in an interview because they may contain aspects of employment discrimination, which Title VII prohibits.
