* Team Overview and History
Manchester United is popular and globally supported football club based in Manchester, England. It plays in the English Premier League (EPL) and in the European and global football tournaments once it qualifies. The football club has a rich history and has recorded one of the remarkable performances in the field of professional football. Despite it being a football club, it is an important business in the sporting field, ensuring that its owners earn an income as well as paying its players and staff a reasonable pay. It was founded in 1878. During its start, it was known as Newton Health LYR Football Club but later converted its name in 1902 to Manchester United. Playing in its home stadium known as the Old Trafford, Manchester has managed to win twenty premier league titles, twenty one community shields, three UEFA Champion league trophies and twelve FA Cup titles. From the wins, the club has attracted a global base of fanbase, thus creating an effective earning from selling its sports merchandise over the years. Financially, Manchester United has had an outstanding record over time, with it being the highest earning club across the world in the 2016-2017 year and rated third in the valuable clubs in 2019. Despite it being founded by Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company employees, it has changed ownership over the years with its current owners, the Glazer family, seeking and evaluating to sell the club’s shares. It has also been under different coaches with Alex Fergusson being its popular coach and Erik ten Hag as its current coach. Apart from seeking to maintain its football record winning history, the clubs is also actively seeking to develop stable financial performance.
