Human Resources and Change of Walmart’s Management Subsystem
Walmart Inc. is an American retail business that operates around the globe, which is generally known for the relatively low prices of their products. The cornerstone of their deeply help principles is to deliver low prices to focus on their customer-oriented approach for the convenience of the people as a one-stop shop that has everything from grocery items to electronic equipment (Walmart US, 2020). Walmart have a system focused on the subsystems: production, management, and output.
The production subsystems are the inputs of the company to have a better marketing strategy. The business strategy of Walmart is influenced by its stakeholders. The stakeholders include the investors, the employees, and the costumers (Meyer, 2017). The investors are those who actually holds share on the company. In Walmart, they are the number one priority that needs to be taken into consideration in decision making (Meyer, 2017). These group focuses on the revenue generated by the company. They greatly influence the marketing strategies that the company will make to maximize the return of their investments (Kaliannan & Adjovu, 2015). The current executives of Walmart, includes Greg Penner, Chairman, and Doug McMillon, President and CEO (Walmart US, 2020). These executives receive part of their salary from their shares from Walmart stock. The costumers are the second priority while the employees are the third priority (Meyer, 2017).
The output subsystem is generally geared towards on the result of the interaction of the company to the customers. The customers, in particular, act as a stakeholder who are interested in the well fare of the company due to the affordable prices of Walmart. Additionally, the more satisfied the customers, the higher their patronage to the store (Kaliannan & Adjovu, 2015). The higher the patronage Walmart products, the better the revenue of the company.
The management subsystem shows the effort of the corporate structure in controlling their corporate hierarchy and delivering satisfactory costumer service. The employees are important in maintaining the relationship of company to the costumer, especially, customer satisfaction (Osborne & Hammoud, 2017). I'm a costumer of this company and its convenience in providing my needs surpass others. Customers usually become online retailers are that increases the marketing opportunities of Walmart by selling their products online. The online retailers play a role in the competition against other retail giants such as Amazon and Alibaba. Unlike the other online retail stores Amazon and Alibaba, they have computer generated systems for customer interaction. On the other hand, Walmart utilizes the skills of their employees to assists the people. Also, Walmart can generate additional profit when the costumer saw a product, other than what they intend to buy, inside their physical store and buys it. Therefore, there is a need in increasing the number of people entering their stores; however, there is generally poor customer satisfaction due to the service and management of the employees (Lombardo, 2019), which prevents the people to go inside their stores.
This problem is due to the lack of the company's training methods of employees to handle satisfactory costumer service, the selection process of their employees, and the compensation and benefits that improves their employee’s commitment to the company. As a result of this mismanagement, Walmart is making lower revenues compared to what it should be making if they could only just increase the number of satisfied costumers inside their physical stores.
Although Walmart is known as one of the biggest retail stores in the world, the management subsystem of Walmart should be changed so that there is a total increase in the company's revenue and customer satisfaction as well as the enthusiasm of its employees to work better for the company.
