The course has been eventful, informative, and resourceful. I have learned a ton of information on management. Particularly, I have gained a deep understanding of human resource management, national systems innovations, and comparative corporate governance. Regarding human resource management, I have gained a clear picture of what it is all about and what it involves. Prior to the course, I thought that human resource management was simply the art of hiring and firing. However, I have learned the core tenets of human resource management from the course. These include recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, and learning and development. I have also come to appreciate that human resource managers play a crucial role in performance management which is an essential component of business organizations. Proper performance management plays a crucial role in motivating employees (Stone et al., 2020). Additionally, I have also appreciated the important role that human resource managers play in eh planning of succession.
From the topic of national innovation systems, I have understood the importance of having a model where technology flows seamlessly among people, enterprises, and institutions. The flow of technology can be seen as the oil that lubricates the innovation engine (Fila et al., 2020). In business, continuous innovations are key for survival and the maintenance of competitive advantage. Consequently, elaborate national innovation systems play a unique role in ensuring that technology flows seamlessly between different parties. In the modern world, technological advancements and innovations are happening at an unprecedented rate. It is important to have a structure where this technology flows from the source to the people and institutions who need to implement it. The national innovation systems make this flow possible.
The topic of corporate governance was also informative and timely. Some of the principles I learned from this topic are essential to the success of any business. For instance, some fundamental tenets of comparative corporate governance revolve around ethical behavior, corporate strategy, and risk management. Ethical behavior is key to eh success of any business organization.
