My Dream Job: Healthy Food Restaurant
My dream job is to become the manager of my own proprietary company called Healthy Food Restaurant. For the job description and specification of this position, in my organization, there are numerous objectives for the position of the manger such as ensuring the health and safety of the organization, formulating the mission, vision and corporate culture of the company, developing a superior workforce ensuring personal growth and self-development as the lead employee. The manager is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing all the operations and fiscal health of all business units, divisions and departments in the restaurant. These divisions and departments include the financial department, human resource department and the information technology unit.
Also, in the organization, the manager works with the human resources staff spot new potential target, recruit, interview them and employ an appropriate number of qualified employees as well as coach and mentor them in to professional performers (Sethi & Malhan, 2013). Basically, the manager is the leader of all other employment sections in the organization and also responsible for maintaining work systems, procedures and policies that encourage the other employees to up their optimum performance and other human resources in order to achieve the primary goal of the company.
In order to fully perform the above responsibilities, in Healthy Food Restaurant, the manager should meet certain requirements. Firstly, the individual should have extensive knowledge in management, business and supervision of other employees. Secondly, he or she should have an excellent interpersonal relationship building skills so as to ensure that the company gets good results and also able to adequately coach new employees (Joseph, 2010). Thirdly, the manager should have outstanding leadership skills and also plausible demonstration of basic economics, accounting skills and budgeting. In addition, the manager of the company is ought to demonstrate an ability to serve the company as an essential and knowledgeable resource to the management team and also have skills on creating and intensely maintain the culture of the workplace, the vision of the company and its mission.
Moreover, the manager should have basic and advanced computer skills such as a proper knowledge on Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Further, the manager should be able to smoothly operate the company and all its activities in a high level of confidentiality (Sethi & Malhan, 2013). Lastly, the manager should have minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in management, and an equivalent in the field of foods and nutrition, catering and beverages. Also, they should have a minimum of three years of experience in leadership and management and a specialized training in human resource management.
In my organization, the compensation and benefits package states that the main thing to be paid for or compensated is the performance of individual employees, how they keep up with the corporate culture of the organization as well as the manner in which their decisions facilitate the success and achievement of great values in the company (Henderson, 2012). This is the philosophy that guides the compensation and benefits package of the company as I formulated. It also states that the manner in which employees are compensated and benefit from their outstanding performance is by increment in monthly wages and promotion from one position to the next depending on the effort being appreciated. Secondly, the main goal of the company is expanding its marketing share and obtaining as many clients and customers as possible (Joseph, 2010). Therefore, as the manager, the compensation and benefits package of the company rewards individual employees who bring new clients and customers to the restaurant. Thirdly, the compensation and benefits package of Healthy Food Restaurant fully merges with the corporate culture of the organization (Henderson, 2012). As the manager, I formulated a compensation plan that works in reinforcing the culture of the company in that, I continuously work in identifying employees who strongly uphold and promote the values and beliefs of Healthy Food Restaurant.
Fourthly, in my company, the compensation and benefits package depends on creation and generation of value to the company (Henderson, 2012). In this context, I identify what creates value to my company, the reward that behavior for the good results. This is done from the perspective of every individual working in the company and the customers. In this section, to get the best option that brings value to the company and so to reward them, I achieve the perspective of the customer by calling 20 regular and loyal customers then ask them two questions. The first question asks the customer about some positive things that the restaurant does to bring value to it and makes them want to do business with them. The second question is on what the company can do to earn more of their loyalty and continue doing business with them. After getting the results and reviews from the customers, I will do an internal inspection by asking the company’s employees to create and support a new way of improving the company’s activities in order to get more sales and revenue.
