A group of employees may be determined as a collection of mutually independent individuals who usually have separate goals and objectives, and they are brought together by common interests and experience. Additionally, in groups, every member provided resources and information to other individuals; however, every member is responsible for his work. On the other side, a team is made up of a group of people who share a common purpose and are determined to achieve the same goals and objectives. In a team, all members are mutually committed, and this generates joint accountability which is ideal in establishing a strong bond and motivation among the team members. The primary purpose of forming a team is to maximize the strengths of every member and minimizing their weakness, thus helping in facilitating an easy accomplishment of tasks.
It is essential to comprehend that there are similarities between teams and groups; first, both team and groups in the workplace are necessary for knowledge creation. Although groups members work independently, they engage in brainstorming processes that are critical in solving tasks and other activities in the organizations. Similarly, team members are also able to join efforts together and offer knowledge about how tasks by may be accomplished by ensuring that every team player offers his or her skills and expertise (Sanyal, Hisam, 2018). Teams work better when individuals believe in each other’s competence and abilities.
