The different personality attributes influence organizational behavior as behavior reflects how people react and interact with others. The set of personal characteristics, including motives, emotions, values, interests, attitudes and competences are linked tot the environment, and personality may influence suitability for certain jobs. Different tests are administered to determine whether the employees can work well in an organization based on outcomes of the personality tests. There is an assumption that certain personality types are well suited for the workplaces For instance, those with good communication skills are good team players
Different personality indicators are used to categorize people into personality types such as extraversion and introversion. The way people perceive information, make judgments and decisions based on their thoughts or feelings is closely tied to their personalities. The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of many personality measurement instruments describes different personality types based on people’s behavior. For the MBTI the four dichotomies with are: Extraverted (E) vs. Introverted (I), Sensing (S) vs. Intuitive (N), and Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F) and Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P) (Kulkarni, 2015). Extroverts are mostly active, energetic, friendly, and spontaneous, while introverts may be analytical, discreet, loyal and observant.
The personality type indicators or instruments are useful to predict patterns of thought or behavior, but sometimes the categories are ambiguous and abstract. Understanding and evaluating the different personality types is useful in organizational contexts to select personnel or assess the possibility of someone fitting in with the organizational culture, roles, responsibilities and position the staff members also ought to understand the basis of the perso...
