The developer of the RealRecruit technology platform, David Chadwick, identified a problem faced by athletics students once enrolled in a college and came up with a solution that not only helped the students voice their concerns and narrate their ordeals but also the solution come in handy for institutions’ administration in handling such incidences beforehand. Aside from the system's technical capabilities, such as being able to collect data and store it in a database to be retrieved in real-time, RealRecruit was also designed with ethics at the backbone. For example, the system offers the informants the opportunity to be anonymous, and the beneficiaries of the information only receive the data without the particulars of the informants. This is an aspect of confidentiality and privacy at its best, a genuine concern for the system's ethics.
According to Coffelt (2017), confidentiality is a technical term used to describe the capability of a computer system to alienate personal information from the data to be analyzed. On the other side, anonymity is the participants' ability to offer data without disclosing their identifying information.
