Planning is a crucial tool carried out by management that helps to keep in watching a company's mission, vision, objectives, and goals. Usually, planning mainly entails thinking about what people should perform in the future and developing a rough draft to realize the enterprise's objectives. This process comes in different forms, including strategic and operational plans with different features. However, both have been largely intermingled since they can be used within each other. Therefore, this paper reflects on the differences between strategic and operational plans within an organization such as a healthcare setting.
The doctrine for their goal is different. Usually, the strategic plan's goal is to highlight the organization's enduring vision and how every department would work to realize such an objective (Oh, 2023). For example, if the company deals with several diverse populations, one plan would include employing providers who understand several languages to ensure no patient is excluded. Additionally, the objective of the operational plans applies to explicit departments, although it is an exception instead of a rule. Due to its thinner focus, the operational plan is more integrally comprehensive than its counterpart plan, highlighting everything to achieve everything.
