Coaching Plan – Part 1
Essay Instructions:
This assignment will be done in two parts. The first part will be a draft.
As you have learned, leadership and coaching models differ. The type of coaching prevalent in an organization can also vary. For instance, a coaching plan for an educator will look different than a plan intended for a healthcare professional.
In Modules 8 and 9, you will develop a coaching plan for a member of your organization. You will utilize a coaching plan template or alter it for a model better suited to your organization.
For this assignment, you will complete and submit the background information, two SMART goals and the related current realities, and details for at least one goal.
Step 1
Select a coworker who is willing to help you model a coaching plan. Contact the person to schedule two 30-minute meetings (either face-to-face or virtual): one during Module 8 and one during Module 9. You will collaborate with this person to develop one targeted area for their professional development.
Step 2
Review the coaching models in the module readings and presentations and the Coaching Models reference resource. If necessary, research other types of coaching to find a model appropriate for your organization.
Select the coaching model you will use in your long-term coaching plan.
Step 3
Download and review the Long Term Coaching Plan template. You may alter the format and contents of the template to match your organization better.
Step 4
Meet with your colleague to begin collaborating on the elements of their coaching plan. Identify the area for professional development. Develop at least two SMART goals and describe the current reality for each. Take notes in the template.
Thank them for their time and remind them of the next meeting.
Step 5
Begin to identify the activities and/or resources you will include in your coaching plan. Consider ways you will develop a plan that accounts for the diversity of the individual.
Note: For this assignment, you will submit these parts of the Long-Term Coaching Plan:
Background Information
Two SMART Goals and the Current Reality for each goal
Action Steps for at least one goal.
You will submit your complete Long-Term Coaching Plan in Module 9.
Write a reflective paragraph at the end of your coaching plan draft describing the process so far and your next steps.
Step 6
Submit your rough draft of the coaching plan. Include APA-formatted in-text citations and a reference page for any sources you used.

SMART Goals and Current Realities
Goal 1: Acquire Leadership Training
Within the next six months, Roselyne will pursue a leadership development course and apply three new leadership techniques to increase team cohesiveness and efficiency.
Current Reality
Currently, Roselyne is a manager, and she has held this position for three years. She regularly completes project assignments on time but is unsatisfied with the coordination of her team and their levels of motivation. She has laid down a process of realizing that she lacks the enthusiasm and motivation required in order to foster the performance of her team members in the best manner they are capable of.
Goal 2: Improve Project Management Capabilities
Over the next four months, Roselyne will acquire and apply a new project tracking tool, improving project efficiency by 20%.
