Career Plan
Part 1: My Starting Place
I am currently taking up a Master’s of Business Management at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to improve my career. I believe the additional knowledge and skills that I will be learning will be relevant in achieving my goal of being one of the best business administrators in the world.
In addition to these, I want to utilize everything that I can apply in opening and building my own successful firm in the future. However, I am still open to other possibilities that may be offered to me, such as an opportunity to work for a large organization where I can continuously grow. At the same time, I will provide and apply the business skills and knowledge that I have acquired throughout my career journey.
I believe that previous experiences during my undergraduate years in the United States of America (USA) and my internship are significant. These have helped shape my current perspectives, values, goals, capabilities, etc., and holistically emphasized my career and business aspect.
Part 2: My Strengths
My career plan must include my strengths because recognizing these will help utilize them in every situation possible while also further harnessing these strengths to aid in achieving my goals and in other business-related causes. My current strengths include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Interpersonal Skills – I am approachable and very fond of interacting with other people, especially those from different world areas. I like observing and listening to people about different topics of interest because I believe that knowledge, skills, and talents come in various forms. I am also an effective communicator both in written and spoken English while also incorporating nonverbal communication.
* Leadership Skills – I am an experienced leader in collaborating with different people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I practice, as well as value, teamwork, transparency, communication, and commitment. In addition to these, I highly appreciate feedback and constructive criticisms, especially from people with whom I work and interact with.
* Problem-solving Skills – I am confident, which translates into setting realistic goals, managing expectations, and taking action to address different issues and concerns. I am also innovative and open to new ideas and room for growth.
* Work Ethics – I am self-motivated, focused, and disciplined when completing tasks. I make sure that I am goal-oriented that everything that I do aligns with accomplishing whatever goal I have. I also practice professionalism when doing business and interacting with other people, whether colleagues or clients.
* Business Management Skills - I am knowledgeable in proper business practices, adaptable, and open to learning new things that will increase my competency in business.
Part 3: My Values
These are the job values that are most important to me in the next three years:
* Self-fulfillment – I want to be affiliated with people and organizations that promote continuous learning and personal growth in the field.
* Relationships – I aim to have an opportunity to use my business management skills, as well as my leadership skills on groups of people who will benefit from it so that I can gain more knowledge about my strengths and weaknesses as I practice the different skills that I have acquired in the past. I also desire to build connections with people that will aid in improving my business skills and standing.
* Mobility – I would want to have freedom in the next few years, especially in seeking more opportunities and enhancement in my current state, and I will be able to accomplish this by not engaging in a repetitive job or task.
Part 4: My Potential Career Paths
* Lateral Path: A possible career path that I may have is a lateral career path because of the possible holistic learning that I can get from various departments such as marketing, finance, operations, or business analysis. However, I see this as a stepping stone and not much of a long-term path that I will be taking to achieve my main career goal in the future.
* Expert Path: This path is another option for me to specialize in one career track. Since business management and administration offers a wide variety of opportunities, there is a possibility that I may choose a narrower discipline and use my business and research skills to provide improvement or new knowledge in a specific, focused topic to aid in the betterment of the profession as a whole. This will also be inclined to educate other people who would want to learn more about business.
* Traditional Path: The traditional career path is the one I am leaning towards because I aim to have progression in the organizational ladder that I work for. I am also seeking a managerial position that will enable me to utilize the skills that I have learned from my undergraduate years, internship, and master’s course. This career path is also ideal for me because, in every progression, it will also pose various challenges that will give rise to opportunities for growth when it comes to business.
Part 5: My Career Vision
My vision would be to own and manage my own company, where I can educate and inspire people through my work and continuous learning, especially in business and entrepreneurship. My company will be welcoming even new graduates as it helps explore and expand each person’s potential. I also aim that my company is of value in terms of helping improve the world and making it a better place for everyone, such as participation in protecting wildlife or involvement in environmental conservation movements to address global warming.
Part 6: My Career Goals
My short-term goals are the following:
* To participate in research programs at the University of Technology Sydney’s (UTS) programs.
* To complete all my requirements (research projects and assignments) successfull...
