Barack Obama II is a Charismatic Leader and the first African American who became the 44th president of the United States of America from 2009 to 2017. Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the United States on the 4th of august in 1961 to a Kenyan father and an American mother (Elkatawneh, 2016). Obama attended Occidental University and Columbia University, where are received a degree in political science. Before he became president, he was the third African American to the reconstructed United States Senate. He represented Illinois on the body from 2005 to 2008 and paved the way for him to the presidency. Barack Obama was also awarded a Nobel prize in 2009 for his outstanding advocacy to strengthen international cooperation and diplomacy (Elkatawneh, 2016). Barack Obama’s leadership career started when he became a senator of Illinois. He announced his aspiration for running the United States president when he was still senator, which led him to the presidency on the 4th of November 2008. Several reasons and characteristics made Obama considered a leader, his attractive leadership styles and mastery use of the power granted to him as the leader of the United States.
Barack Obama is considered a leader due is his remarkable ability to convert people to his side and efficiently accomplish tasks. Charismatically, this is evidenced in his campaigns for the presidency when he ably lured the young Americans to volunteer in his movements (Elkatawneh, 2016). Barack Obama is also considered a transformational leader due to his potential to transform the election support system to a party leader from a party representative who received help or support from the party. Further still, Obama is considered a leader because of his ability to transform the interior and external affairs to guide the people’s will (Elkatawneh, 2016). Obama also layered his leadership abilities by using different strategies to strengthen his relations with the various cultures without discrimination. President Obama also built a better leadership image for Americans to the outside world, tarnished by previous leaders such as President George Bush. Barrack Obama is considered a leader because of his ways and abilities shown when dealing with emergencies as he firmly introduced and promoted several necessary changes directed towards achieving most of the promises made to his voters (Elkatawneh, 2016).
Communication expert is one of the traits of Obama as a leader; he was skilled in public speaking in that most of his speeches inspired or spirited people. As a result of his good general communication skills, Obama was sometimes referred to or nicknamed a “Talented speech expert” (Zahra, 2019). Self-confidence is another trait that the leader had, as evidenced during his occasional statements of becoming the United States of America president. Self-confidence is also exhibited in his campaign catchphrase of “Yes we Can” shows how the leader was confident from the very start of the campaign up to the elections. Obama was also an analytical and cautious leader who made his decisions following the nature of the problem and the analytical approaches developed by the information he acquires himself from the different sources (Zahra, 2019). Barrack Obama also possesses traits of humanity and friendliness, which is seen in his approach to people with a couple of interests in formulating good relations with other states and families within the United States. His humanity trait is also shown by the creation of the Change.gov website that was designed during his time as a leader to receive the voices of the people and their aspirations (Zahra, 2019).
Barrack Obama used his power as the leader and president of the United States of America to empower people by giving them the chance to speak up about the things impacting their lives. He also used the power to resolve and find radical solutions to the different problems in America, negatively impacting people’s lives and exhibiting a bad image for the country to the outside world. Some issues include unemployment, public security, health insurance, and conflicts with other superpower states like Russia and China (Elkatawneh, 2016). Obama also used his executive powers to promote humanity by signing orders to stop the forceful deportation of the various citizens illegally staying in the United States.
