This assignment focuses on how the management practices of planning, leading, organizing, staffing, and controlling are implemented in your workplace. Using the University of Arizona Global Campus Library and other credible online resources, find three Scholarly, Peer Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources (Links to an external site.) that provide information on Amazon.com’s business structure.



Here is the scenario and situation:



Assume you are an employee working in the Amazon warehouse, and you pack orders and categorize them into small, medium, and large batches. You are considered a packer. You have experience packing all sizes and have been with the organization for two years. You are considered one of their best employees, you have a solid reputation for being a hard worker, and all of your orders are packed correctly. You have also been busy; you recently completed Amazon’s management training program, and you have completed your BABA degree at the Forbes School of Business and Technology at the University of the Arizona Global Campus.



Congratulations: You have just been promoted to manager. You will be relocated to a new plant that is two hours away that employs 100 employees. You will oversee a team of 10 supervisors and 90 packers and will now oversee the entire warehouse operation. How will you work to use and apply the five functions of management?



Now let’s apply the five functions. In your paper, include the following sections:



Planning: Examine the specific areas you will choose to manage that fall under the planning function.

For example, what might be some of the things you will plan to do and implement to build an effective team and culture? People are the most important resource in any business, what do you plan to do to build a positive team culture? What processes and systems do you plan to use?

Organizing: Assess if the present structure that Amazon has set up is working.

Do you need to make or suggest any changes to make it more efficient and effective? What structure will you use and implement? Explain how you will use departmentalization in your organizational structure.

Staffing: Analyze your staffing needs.

How do you intend to staff your organization and replace members that leave or are promoted? How does the HR process apply? What things (if any) will you suggest?

Leading: Justify the leadership theory and style you will follow to ensure efficiency.

Will you use transformational or transactional leadership? Why or why not?

Controls: Identify what controls and measures you will implement.

How will you apply the four steps of control (these are in Chapter 7; i.e., establishing standards, measuring performance, comparing performance, and making decisions)?

Be sure to integrate vocabulary learned throughout this course and citations from the text to support your analysis. Introduction
As a manager of an Amazon warehouse, I would be expected to oversee a team of supervisors and packers and the warehouse operation. Managers are more involved in strategic thinking and in planning and controlling operations the objectives are defined and communicated to the workers. Having already completed Amazon's management training program, experience working in the warehouse department, and having a good knowledge of the warehouse management procedures are beneficial in the management position. There is also coordination of the workers, and this requires open communication, supervision, and direction. Warehousing is essential to Amazon’s success as the company stores and distributes products being shipped and delivered to the customers. As the manager, there is application of the five functions of the management of planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controls to attain the set goals and objectives in warehouse operations
Planning
The planning function in any company is essential to controls all management and allows the organization to run smoothly. Planning relates to the general and specific objectives that determine the effective actions and are essential for the department to achieve the set objectives through a plan (Vuong & Rajagopal, 2020). Knowledge and understanding of inventory and inventory controls helps to ensure there is efficiency. The planning function requires that I be flexible and coordinate warehouse functions and improve efficiency in warehouse management. Understanding how Amazon seeks to use resources and future goals to meet the company’s goals is necessary in warehousing is crucial to Amazon’s success. Warehousing is an essential part of the supply chain process and managing the warehouse
Overseeing the warehouse operations requires a plan of action that highlights what needs to be done and how to improve warehouse operations. The plans of action would be communicated to the supervisors and warehouse employees so they understand their roles and expectations. It is essential to have a clear vision, goals, and objectives that influence the course of action and are aligned with the business strategies (Vuong & Rajagopal, 2020). In the plan of action, there are future needs to improve warehousing and distribution operations. The SWOT analysis tool focusing on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in warehousing Amazon gets aligned with the strategic plan informs decisions on areas requiring improvement to promote competitiveness. 
Organizing
The organizing function in management is necessary to support the day-to-day operations and controls operations. Amazon assigns work to specific roles and responsibilities in each department, and warehousing is an important aspect of the company’s business model to ensure there is efficient processing of customer orders, inventory management, and facilitating customer delivery. Organizing involves assigning tasks and responsibilities to employees with the specific skills necessary to complete them and using a chain of command (Baack, Reilly, & Minnick, 2014). Thus, there is a focus on improving relationships among the workers and optimizing resource use. Planning and organizing are part of strategy formulation and I would reevaluate the workers’ job performance to determine whether there is a need to improve the workplace and accomplish the set objectives. The workers have duties and responsibilities based on their job profiles and coordinate the work is necessary to meet the shared goals.
