In addition, you are to discuss the Promoting Interoperability standards and what types of data is being collected to ensure the hospital is meeting the Promoting Interoperability stages. Slide 2. Roles of EMR- there are the primary roles that the system fulfills, and they include collecting and displaying patient data, managing problems of patients, accept clinical data, and accepting clinical notes written by physicians. The collection and storage of this type of data are crucial for ensuring that hospitals run effectively, and the entire healthcare system is effective.
Slide 3- standards overview- there are a set of standards on the setting up and operability of the electronic healthcare records. They touch on the external features, the hardware, the software, and the level of human interaction. It is important to understand these standards to avoid breaching the law or endangering a patient's lives.
Slide 4- the purpose of standards- they are meant to ensure that the safety of the patients is protected, and the stakeholders of the system can be held accountable. As much as each data can be monitored, then everyone can be held responsible, in case cases arise. After the roles of each stakeholder are determined, it becomes easy to monitor the progress, and the return on investment can be realized.
Slide 5- standard 1- consent of patient's records- before data is recorded into the system, the patient must be informed of the types of test being conducted and the metrics that can determine the results of the tests. The patient must then be informed that the data is to be recorded into the system, and upon request, the personnel entering the data must give reasons for the process (Dulude et.al, 2018). Only after a patient's consent is when the data can be entered into the system.
Slide 6 – standard 2- entering vitals- there is data that is considered critical, and it forms the background information of any patient. They include age, gender, family history, medical history, and information from the pharmacy. Even after a patient is transferred to another healthcare facility, the treatment process will continue when the data is retrieved.
Slide 7- standard 3- enter visit reason- upon visiting a new or previously attended healthcare facility. A clinician must enter the reason for the patient's visit before he or she update the medical information about the patient. This standard reduces the likelihood of data manipulation and increases transparency and accountability in the system.
