Summary of the Author’s Argument
Wiens’ article is bent upon the importance of grammar in the workplace and its significance is never dependent on the job. Wein is convinced that people who make grammar mistakes should be disqualified from job opportunities regardless of whether they have excellent qualifications for the position. Such a person is accustomed to mistakes and thus, unlikely to spot related deficiencies in job specifications. This argument becomes even more prevalent in her two companies iFixit and Dozuki where writing forms a great part of the company’s operations. To this end, Weins’ opinion is that any employee in the company regardless of their position cannot be hired without being proficient in grammar. An exceptional understanding of grammar is “a projection of you in your physical absence” (Weins, 2012). An individual who makes significant efforts in ensuring that these details are included in their rapport will be replicate the same in their daily work. This dimension highlights the reason as to why Wiens provides grammar tests as the first criterion for working in her organizations.
