Work Philosophy

Work Philosophy (worth 100 points)

Now it is time to pull your thoughts together into a work philosophy document, which, like your degree design document, will be a one-page (single-spaced) document that describes your work philosophy for prospective or current employers and/or graduate or professional school admissions officers. When someone reads this document, he should come away convinced that you are prepared to make significant contributions to an enterprise (business, organization, graduate or professional program).

You must limit your document to one page, using single-spacing, but double-spacing between each paragraph (the basic style for business or professional letters, memos, and other assorted documents). Your argument/explanation should consist of three or four paragraphs that illustrate, in a coherent and engaging manner, your work philosophy. You can enhance your document with specific examples that will highlight how you have put into practice your philosophy.

Please note that I am not providing you with a "sample" work philosophy document that you can use as a model. There are certainly such samples available through the Internet, and you might find it helpful to look at some of those. However, I want you to make this work philosophy your own. The important thing is to make it engaging. No one wants to read something that is nothing more than a string of platitudes and cliches. They want to learn what is unique about your experience and how that has informed your work philosophy. This, of course, is where those concrete examples can be very helpful. If you have never thought about a work philosophy before and do not know where to start, consider discussing your philosophy on a few of the following that you feel are most important to your profession: team work, helping, leadership, responsibility, creativity, effort, honesty, vision, motivation, focus, honesty, ingenuity, balance, and adaptability. You should discuss what you think is important and why. Explain and describe how you have come to value these philosophies.

Submit this assignment as a file attachment (saved in rich text format). Please submit your best work, as I will deduct points for spelling and grammatical errors. After evaluating the document, I will ask you to revise it and upload it into your Career Portfolio. Please note that completing, revising, and uploading the revised version of this work philosophy document into your Career Portfolio is a requirement for making a "C" in this course, as is stated on the Course Syllabus in the section on "Course Requirements and Evaluation."

Work Philosophy
My work philosophy is teamwork. It is the basis of other philosophies like motivation, creativity, leadership, and responsibility. I believe teamwork gives me access to more ideas and makes me work in harmony with my colleagues to achieve mutual goals because two heads are better than one. Working as a team is a vital avenue to access more ideas that add knowledge to tackle my responsibilities differently every day. For example, if I am working in the supplies department interacting with other colleagues and brainstorming on various issues will help me gather and adopt various ways to handle my designated work. I am cognizant that no one has ever exhausted all options in a certain field and working as a team is the primary method to gain extra knowledge.
