CHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP [NAME] [COURSE] [INSTITUTION] [PROFESSOR] [DATE] Weber`s definition of charismatic leadership states that "resting on devotion to the exceptional sanctity, heroism or exemplary character of an individual person, and of the normative patterns or order revealed or ordained by him" (Shmueli & Weber, 1968). He foresees religious leaders like Jesus as charismatic leaders and later researches considered a variety of social-political leaders like Mahatma Gandhi as charismatic leaders; dictators like Hitler also had some charismatic characters. These were the leaders with outstanding qualities which made them almost god-like for their followers thus the attraction of such people made their followers go behind these leaders without questioning them. It is kind of fascinating to watch a Charismatic Leader 'working the room' as they move about from person to person thus they pay much interest to the person they are talking to at any one moment; making that person feel like they are for that time, the most essential person in the world (Wren,1995). Charismatic Leaders forfeit a great deal of concentration in scanning and reading their environment and are good at preference up the moods and concerns of both individuals and larger audiences thus they then will sharpen their actions and words to suit the situation. They will also use a wide range of methods to administer their image and if they are not logically charismatic, may put into practice diligently at developing their skills. They will then fabricate the image of the group in meticulous in the minds of their followers as being far superior to all others (DuBrin, 2010). They may bring about trust through perceptible self-sacrifice and taking personal risks in the name of their beliefs thus showing great confidence in their followers. They are very influential and make very effective use of body language as well as verbal language.
