What I value in Literature

What I value in literature is that it uses words to paint pictures or life situations. Literature enables me to have a better image of what the world was like in the past. Novels such as Huckleberry Finn, Kid lit, and the turn of the century is actually a revelation for me. Such novels and stories depict how people of color were viewed: and giving an idea of what life was like in the past. I suppose many of you have read books and found the images so vivid to the extent that you fail to notice how hours are go by.
