While my aunt wanted Jude to continue education at his current school, her husband wanted him to move to a school specifically for children with autism. As I learned, Juliet wanted Jude to continue learning in his current school because it was closer to her home, which would allow her to respond to his needs. On the other hand, her ex-husband was convinced that Jude would be better off in a private school, specifically designed to address the needs of autistic children. They could not agree, with each party believing that their option was best for Jude. One question for addressing an impasse according to Mayer (2012) is "Who needs to be involved to move through the impasse?"
