A team is a small group of people with complementary skills, who works together to achieve a shared purpose and hold themselves mutually accountable for performance results. There are several alternative teams that can be used in an organization in order to achieve set targets. In this paper I will discuss these alternative teams used in Bardgwing Freight Company Ltd which deals with service delivery to achieve its goals.
To begin with, let check the project teams and the task forces. These are teams that are made up of people from various parts of an organization who work together on a common problem but for a temporary basis. Another alternative team is the cross functional team which comprises people from different functional units of an organization and are created to knock down tension between departments. In addition, employment involvement team is another option where workers meet on a regular basis outside of their formal assignments with the goal of applying their expertise and attention for continuous improvement. A good example for employment involvement team is a quality circle meeting. Finally, the other alternative team is a virtual team where people work together to solve issues through the computer rather than face to face interaction.
Considering the above alternative teams in organizational, it is clear that they come to be in order to meet various needs in the company for effective performance.
