The United States and the world
Most countries in the world are economically and politically powerful, but the most recognized countries are China and the United States. For decades, the United States and China are among the most flourishing countries in the world map due to several factors. The two countries display unique features that are similar but different to some extent.
Both countries are powerhouses in the world from its land, people, culture, economy and other features making them unique in different ways (Fu et al., 2013). Even though other countries are developed, the United States and China have several similar and also different features in several ways that make them stand out in the world.
Social communication
Americans view their personal and professional lives as separate entities that should not overlap each other. Americans can easily interact within workplaces, but tend to avoid socializing with each other outside workplaces; they prefer keeping their family lives private (Jackson & Wang, 2013). Unlike Americans, Chinese people value relationships because it plays a big role in both their personal and professional lives. China emphasizes on building social network to foster integration and promote development (Jackson & Wang, 2013).
In China, people are expected to know each other at work and foster genuine trust at personal levels. Employers are more concerned about workers personal lives because they believe it affects their performance. Both work relations and family relations are blended together to build solid relations. In general, American communication culture emphasizes on individuality and autonomy. The American culture encourages people to be ambitious and is driven to succeed (Moran, Abramson & Moran, 2014).
Government, politics and democracy
The Chinese and the united state political systems, including their constitution is different; China is more of a socialist country while the US is a capitalist country. In the US, the constitution presents the rights and freedom, including what the government is expected to do and what the government is forbidden to do (Samovar et al., 2015). According to the constitution, individual rights are well stipulated, the laws emphasize on both what the government cannot do for you and what the government needs to provide as basic rights (Samovar et al., 2015).
Rights of citizens in China include only the relationship between the government and individual, but not private individuals and the state. In China, it is not easy to enforce rights against the government. Under the Chinese constitution, people having the freedom of speech but are limited by standing orders. In the US, the first amendment protects individual from state interference (Moran, Abramson & Moran,2014).
The US and China present varied political spectrum; the US operates of capitalist ideologies while China socialist uses Marxist ideas to limit individual freedom and the leadership structures. China's one-party rule is within its constitution similar to American electoral democracy, in China, most people support the communist party while American support Democratic Party and Republican Party. There are other obvious differences in the political structure whereby the two party system elect leaders for two five-year terms. In China, leaders are chosen on merit, not popularity (Moran, Abramson & Moran, 2014).
The existing political structures in China facilitate corruption, in China, several ventures rely upon political connection. The provincial leaders are powerful figures and have the right to overrule the national regulation. In China, there is no difference between the government and business. China politics affect business operation and its economic development processes (Moran, Abramson & Moran, 2014). The communist government maintains a strong influence over many business operations. In China, people rely on good relations with the government to operate their businesses. The US is a democratic system where citizens elect their representatives to the national, the state and local governments to create laws that govern the country. Business operations are not affected by political processes (Moran, Abramson & Moran, 2014).
