Using clear sociological theory and topics covered in each of the first 3 sections of this course,

connect documentaries to textbook to discuss how sociology helps us to (1) better understand how

our own society functions, (2) re-evaluate stereotypes, and critique power dynamics in our society

and globally, and finally (3) considering 1 & 2, how does sociology help us make relevant changes in

our society?

In your essay, where appropriate, tell me about the following as made relevant to this class:

Briefly discuss the significance of Dr. Kenneth Clark and Kiri Davis to this Class.

Tell me who is Billy Mills and what is the significance of his movement causing the mobilization of

Native Americans around the country? Why does this matter?

Considering our time and studies this semester, and the work of Jenks Morton, Dr. Juwanza

Kunjufu, Dr. Steve Perry, Dr. Ivory Toldson and Dr. Boyce Watkins.

How and why is the work of Jackson Katz significant to this course. What is his message as per our

course material.

Who is Bill McKibben and what he and his colleagues at 350.org are doing and why? What is the

significance of “the math” causing the mobilization of college and university students around the

country? Considering the many social theories and contemporary social problems examined in this

sociological tools and knowledge?
