Type I diabetes is a chronic condition which involves the existence of high level of sugar or glucose in the blood. The condition begins when the body fails to produce sufficient amount of insulin or when the use of insulin becomes less effective in the body. Though this condition may occur among people of all age groups, it is mostly prevalent in children, teenagers and adults at young age. The exact cause of type I diabetes has not been established, however, available information indicates that its cause is most probably due to an autoimmune disorder. This is whereby an infection causes the body to hinder the manufacture of insulin (Government of Victoria, 2013). The major treatment and therapy for this condition includes adhering to a healthy diet, regular exercises and controlling the level of insulin in the patient’s blood.
