TORQUEMADA Name Course Name Tutor Date of Submission Torquemada Grand Inquisitor Tomás de Torquemada was a 15th Century Spanish friar from the Dominicans. He is credited with having led the great movement that agitated for the restoration of Christianity in the larger Spanish territory. Torquemada is also credited with having been the confessor to Isabella I of Castile and is documented to have notoriously led a zealous public campaign that sort to eliminate the crypto-Muslim and crypto-Jews of Spain. He also participated in the expulsion of Jews by handing his support to the Alhamba Decree. An approximate 2,000 people were murdered through burning at the stake during the Spanish Inquisition that occurred in late 15th century and ended third decade of the 16th century.
