The Normalization of Gay and Lesbian Life-Course Pathways According to Hostetler (2009), the modern gay rights movement has significantly led to the gradual normalization of the lesbian and gay life-course pathways. Consequently, this development is both celebrated and lamented in the LGTB community. When Hostetler says it is celebrated, the author means that individuals in the LGTB have benefited through the normalization of lesbians and gays. It is celebrated because individuals acquire a community they can associate with without feeling the need to hide how they feel. Secondly, the normalization of gay individuals means the rights of these individuals are created and followed in society (Sulistyawan, 2021). When people learn to normalize that gay people exist, they are accorded the right to get married and even gather in various associations.
