The Exploration of Bias about Diversity
The exploration of bias in the module overview and resources made me see the mechanisms and principles behind bias that contribute to diversity one way or another. Bias can be thought of as an inclination to something, and since we do not live in a world that is explicitly black and white, bias can have a lot of implications, and not all of these implications are always negative (Module Overview, 2022). Pannucci and Wilkins (2010) interpreted bias as a resultant variable when error is introduced to any relationship or system of relationships. This bias causes data to have a tendency to skew one way or another, favoring one or more variables. This also creates a divide that causes diversity in any sense we can imagine because it creates a distinction between different facets of a whole.
