How Technology Has Influenced Learning (ENG 102 WK 1 SLP)

Essay Instructions:

“Future Vision” asks the viewer, “In 5-10 years, how will people get things done at work, at home, and on the go?” After watching the concept video, write an organized and well-supported essay in which you make three observations on the future of productivity.  Do you believe the future is optimistic? Or are we headed in a negative direction. What will we be gaining? Losing? Will our children have it better than we did? Worse?

A well-organized essay has a beginning, middle, and an end. The beginning, or introduction, should include an opening sentence to grab your reader’s attention. Follow the opening sentence with a brief background on the topic or situation. In this case, it might be the role of technology today. The last sentence of the introduction is the thesis statement. The thesis states the main point of the essay, which in this case, would be the positive and/or negative future of productivity.

A well-supported essay includes supporting points, details, and examples. For this essay, you must decide the best way to organize the body of the paper. Will you have a paragraph for each positive or negative? Will you divide the body of your paper into three paragraphs, one for each point? In any case, each body paragraph must support (explain) your reasoning (rationale) using specific details. Each body paragraph must begin with a topic sentence that states the main point of the paragraph.

The conclusion typically summarizes the main points of the essay and/or closes with a lasting impression that connects the reader to their world. You may wish to offer suggestions to reader about “the future” and where society may be headed.

Be sure to proofread your essay and edit for proper grammar, punctuation, diction (word choice), and spelling, as errors in sentence skills will lower a final grade. A grade will be determined based on the Module 1 SLP expectations and the Trident University General Education rubric for English found in the course syllabus.

Papers must be double-spaced in Times or Times New Roman font (12 cpi) with standard one-inch margins.

The first person "I" is not used in a formal essay, nor is the passive "you."  In place of "you," "one" may be used.

No secondary sources are to be used in the process of writing this first paper; it is to be entirely written based on one's point of view and supported with body points and details. If referring to the video, be sure to provide the source in the first instance.

How Technology Has Influenced Learning
Introduction
Technology is shaping how things are done in the present day. Life in the present date seems to have been eased greatly by technology. Governance, academia, business and almost every sector of human life has been shaped greatly by technology. Technology has eased the difficulty with which things used to be done in the past in all the fields where it has been applied. This has greatly enhanced productivity in almost all of these sectors. The way technology is being put in application nowadays could have seemed to be science fiction in ten years ago. Continued advance in technological research speculates a very advanced world in 5-10 years to come. All the advances in technology predict a better future of life having being eased greatly with the only challenge of controlling its use. Productivity of every sector where technology has been applied will be better in future thus making life better (McCarron, 2014. The education sector has been shaped greatly by technology and continues to experience great changes as new technologies continue to emerge. Student learning has been affected positively by technology and the future of learning seems bright despite some few challenges.
Effects of Technology in Learning
Learning has been made social by the use of technology. First, social networking, a web-based platform of creating groups with similar interests, is technology that has emerged recently and has greatly shaped and learning. Through use of technology, education has been readily accessible and learning has been greatly enhanced all over the globe (Britland, 2013). Schools have and will continue to adopt a dual system of teaching. The dual system involves one method of teaching whereby traditional group of students, equipped with modern gadgets, are being taught in classrooms. The second method includes an online class of students from across a country and all over the world that are taught online. This is the trend that has recently been adopted by the high-ranking higher institutions of learning and it is indeed the future in teaching and learning. This has brought a challenge to the schools that has to be overcome by the installation of software and servers. Advanced infrastructure is mandatory to support fast internet connection and enable ease in accessing education materials online. Second, cloud computing, working with large amounts of data online, is another technology that is being adopted in order to do away with challenges that face learning. With this technology, teachers have fast access to students' data while students have instant access to the educational materials in their respective schools through their devices (Elgan, 2011). Third, technology has enabled teachers to teach from anywhere while students are able to learn from anywhere on...
