The military is perceived, by outsiders, as a strict chain of command lacking proper communication, if not personal, requirements to carry out missions. In reality, however, US military, particularly US Marines, has communication, in a friendly yet not familiar way, front and center among all Marines. The junior officer-senior non commissioned officer (NCO) relationship offers, perhaps, one ideal example. Specifically, junior officers, lacing practical experience yet having sound conceptual knowledge, face a common challenge of leading more experienced NCOs.
