The Role of the L1 in SLA
The First language (L1) influences second language acquisition as one may rely on the same grammatical form in two languages, even when this is different from what native speakers use (Ellis, 2015). The author pointed out that the idea of language interference and transfer influences the acquisition and depending on how languages interact this can affect the process of language acquisition.
