Current Research Trends: In this assignment, you will explore and describe current research trends in your chosen field during the past two years. My current field is Dental office front desk management. The work you do will help you identify an issue for your mini-literature review paper. You will identify the trends through a review of the table of contents and abstracts for one peer-reviewed scholarly journal from a list that will be posted to Blackboard. The assignment is worth 10% of your final grade in this course.
To complete this assignment, you will use a variation on a research method known as content analysis. This application of this method could help you identify important concerns in your field reflected in the words and phrases mentioned most. This is the research question you are trying to answer: What are current research trends in my field during the past two years?
You will access the journal website and read titles, abstracts, and key words (if available) for all articles contained in each issue produced over a two-year period. As you read, take notes and make a list of (a) words or phrases that appear repeatedly, (b) repetition in problems or issues being studied, and (c) the names of authors who publish frequently.
The 3 page write-up must include: in APA format:
Write-up a brief summary of your findings as answers to the following questions.
What words or phrases appear repeatedly in the titles of the articles?
What problems or issues are being studied most often?
What are the most commonly used keywords?
Who are the names of authors who are published most frequently?
Provide a cover page with this assignment in which you include the following information:
Your name
The date
The names of the journal you reviewed and link to their website
Answers to the following questions
What are the strengths of this paper? What are you pleased with?
What difficulties did you face in responding to this assignment? How did you deal with them?

When I started this assignment, I thought the process was going to be difficult. However, after I went to The American Journal of Nursing’s website, I was amazed at how orderly and straightforward everything was. As I continued navigating the website, I felt more confident, and I realized what I thought was going to be a struggle had become a fun assignment. Accessing online articles is fast and convenient since I could get to any article by just using keywords. Additionally, the website is engaging, and comparing different content has never been easier.
The American Journal of Nursing (AJN) is the first and most honored broad-based nursing journal globally. AJN is peer-reviewed and evidence-based; therefore, it is regarded as nursing’s premier journal. Articles are published twelve times a year, from January to December. The journal strictly follows journalistic measures that advocate for transparency of conflicts of interests that editors, authors, and reviewers could be having. AJN accepts article submissions on clinical and professional topics, including case studies, narratives, commentaries, evidence-based clinical application papers and descriptions of best clinical practices, and original research and QI reports. The journal also has a section that allows submissions for different departments and columns such as artwork and poetry in the nursing and healthcare line. For this assignment, I reviewed The American Journal of Nursing (AJN) through their website link, https://journals.lww.com/ajnonline/pages/default.aspx. The website has a friendly and easy to use interface. First, the header has the website information, including the logo, publisher, and log in and subscription prompts. The navigation bar is located at the top of the Homepage. It has seven website pages, including Articles & Issues, Collection, Multimedia, CE, For Authors, Journal info, and History. Some of the pages have dropdown menus for more options. Additionally, the website has a search button on the far right side that searches for content using keywords. The footer consists of journal content shortcuts and the journal’s contact information. The right side of the home page has a sidebar where other columns and adverts are displayed.
The process of retrieving articles to read from AJN’s website is very easy. One only needs to click on the Articles & Issues tab on the navigation bar. This will bring a dropdown menu with three options, including Current Issues, Archives, and e-pub ahead-of-print. To view current...
