My experience as a volunteer at the mental health facility has been extremely rich and rewarding. As far as my program of study is concerned, I learned about the significance of communication in the healthcare setting and its contribution towards efficient service delivery. In this sense, having to address the communication challenges at the facility and helping develop stronger interprofessional and intraprofessional collaboration greatly improved my volunteer experience. Also, this experience further helped me gain an understanding of how to facilitate clear communication at the organizational level, which I believe will do well to assist me in the future as I advance my career. I also believe that my relationships I was able to build during this volunteer experience will help me in the near and distant future as far as advancing my career is concerned.
In terms of education, I must admit that Grand Canyon has been a stellar experience. As an institution, GCU has allowed me to develop my talents, expand my thinking, and grow as an individual. The faculty throughout my GCU experience has been highly valuable and has helped me better understand the educational concepts from my major in great detail. I believe that this has been instrumental to my positive experience at GCU. At the same time, extracurricular activities and clubs have also provided me with the opportunity to have a positive school-life balance without compromising my academics....
