I chose to review “Mothers’ experiences in the Nurse-Family Partnership program: a qualitative case study” by Landy for this assignment. Landy focuses on mothers experience in the NFP program because other studies only relate to low-income mothers in nurse home visiting programs. The study examines how young mothers get into the NFP program, the benefits of participating in the NFP program, and their perception of the nurses. Although the study fails to achieve all aspects of rigor, credibility is achieved because the results are similar to the Critical Caring theory that indicates that good relationships between nurses and mothers are established when nurses are not judgmental in their approach. Regardless of the credibility, the study cannot be depended upon to explain the experiences of all mothers because it focused only on those who had children below one year.
