There are typically two findings that come out clearly from this study. First, there is seen to be a remarkable increase in the fundamental attributions for medical maltreatment and related emotions among the Latino and Anglo American women. In this situation, the two groups are exposed to medical maltreatment for quite some time. In fact, the maltreatment is almost all the time. Secondly, the study indicates an increase in the level of negative emotions associated with attributions regarding abuse among the Latino and Anglo women. From the findings of this study, this increase in the level of negative emotions leads to inadequate continuity of healthcare services. This supports the hypothesis in the sense that, ethnic minority groups and lower social economic status (SES) populations indicate less positive health care. The study further points out that there is less continuity of healthcare as compared to higher socioeconomic and non-Latino Americans. It is important to note that this study has some limitations. There is insufficient professional communication and development of interpersonal skills among the different groups. Suggestions are, therefore, made to improve professional communication and interpersonal skills among the groups of people. It is anticipated that if these suggestions are considered and implemented, advancements will be noted in the continuity of health care and also reduce inequalities among these groups of women.
This study is quite informative and educative in various ways. As one reads through the study, we realize the necessity to put an end to various healthcare mistreatments that members of the society, especially women, face on the basis of their economic and/or social status. The study also emphasizes the importance of eradicating health care disparities from our societies.
