Rolling the Dice on Technology: Why Casino Engineering Is More Complex Than Traditional Engineering Your Name Subject and Section Professor’s Name Date In casinos where there is technologically advanced setting, engineers remain invisible yet invaluable, performing repair and improvement work on the systems that make both entertainment and security possible (Lucas & Spilde, 2020). In contrast to many of other engineers who operate in a less complicated technologies which are not as dynamic and do not possess nearly as much in the way of technology as a casino, the casino engineers are faced with a maze of high technology, strict laws, and complex ethical scenarios (Chóliz, 2018; Ferguson et al., 2014; King & Delfabbro, 2018). Such professionals are confronted with multiple related issues that are far more complex than the everyday challenges typical for other trades. These are issues associated with the integration of more complicated technologies, compliance with more rigorous legal requirements, and the handling of various ethical dilemmas, making them the pioneers of the profession whose responsibilities are never uncomplicated. Following their significant position at the heart of the vivid and active casino environment, engineers are challenged to skillfully subdue a range of complex technologies that are not only required for efficient operation but also serve as key success factors in a highly competitive market (Lucas & Spilde, 2020). In other engineering industries, the professionals deal with intricate systems and physical adaptations to those systems and hence, demands a current understanding and incorporation of existing technologies (Ferguson et al., 2014). However, casino engineers require creativity and innovativeness since these engineers pay much attention to product usability and safety from smaller mechanical parts to major construction projects of facilities that are frequently used by the public. Their tasks include the new generations of gaming machines integrating sophisticated software scripts aimed at making the gambling processes as fair as possible while provoking the clients’ enthusiasm, as well as the modern digital video surveillance systems capable of scrutinizing large casino floors without any losses in the accuracy of the focus. These engineers also deal with sophisticated analytical tools used in studying customer interaction and gaming environments to make the end products profitable and secure (Lucas & Spilde, 2020). Next, a few of the various regulations that encircle the operations of casinos are difficult for engineers to follow and implement to maintain gaming fairness and data protection. It is known that standard engineers work on the mandatory rules and regulatory standards of the industries including but not limited to those provided by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) (2016), whose main aim is mainly to protect the health of employees and the environment. Their compliance issues, in general, are not seen as being quite as extensive as those faced by most casinos, focusing most of their problems around health, safety, and environmental issues.
