Research data and findings often target primary and secondary audiences. Primary audiences comprise individuals who receive the communication directly. Secondary audiences constitute indirect or "hidden" audiences. The secondary audience includes anyone who may indirectly receive or access a copy of the communication. The secondary audience also includes those who may need to approve, ratify the communication or report and those who will be affected by the report or such communication.
