Outline of Proposed Analytical Report

Essay Instructions:

This writing assignment is designed to help you get started on organizing the analytical report. It will be an outline of the report.

We continue with steps in planning for an organizing the analytical report. You will want to read the instructions for the analytical report so that you have an idea of what types of topics to consider as you construct your outline for the report.

For this assignment, you will write an outline, along with some other brief explanations, for the plan for your analytical report.

For your outline, you will submit the following items:

Statement of the problem: This section should be one or two sentences stating the problem you are addressing.

Purpose and scope of the work: This section should be one paragraph explaining why you have conducted your analysis. You will state why you think the problem you are addressing needs to be addressed.

Decision maker or group of decision makers: This section will identify the individual or individuals to whom you are directing the report.

Sources and methods of data collection: This section should be one paragraph explaining how you went about gathering data. You might mention interviews you conducted, searches you conducted in OneSearch, or other methods of information gathering you used.

Preliminary outline: This section could use Roman numerals to outline, even roughly, the plan for the report. You might have, for example, Roman numeral I, with A, B, and C under it; Roman number II, with A, B, and C under it, and Roman numeral III with A, B, and C under it. Overall, you should not need more than three or four Roman numerals. Again, this can even be a fairly rough outline. Do not feel you have to stick with the outline you have developed when you write your actual report.

Note: If you would like to use an alternate organizational method or just start drafting and get two rounds of draft feedback, that is acceptable.

Notes on the final submission (for preparation):

You will then accomplish the following in the report:

Define the problem persuasively and accurately

Propose a solution or solutions to the problem or issue

Present that solution to a decision-maker or group of decision-makers who can implement the recommendation.

The report will include the following components:

Title Page

Letter of Transmittal

Table of Contents

Informative Abstract

Body of Report (similar to below)

Introduction

Methods/Research

Discussion

References

Your report must also include the following:

At least one graphic in the text.

A minimum of five sources cited within the report.

At least one source must be a scholarly source.

APA style should be used in citing and listing the sources.

Length: The outline has no word count minimum or maximum. It should be as long as necessary

Introduction
The norm of Competence in regards to communicating in many languages is considered a very desirable skill both career-wise and personally; as a result thousands worldwide study one or more second languages. However, there are numerous factors which hinder the learner’s progress and level of proficiency in the second language they choose to study. These factors include motivation, age, aptitude, attitude, personality, learning styles and language anxiety among others (Humphries, 2011).
The term Anxiety to many is a hindrance to numerous different types of learning skills, it’s logical that this norm would also apply to learning foreign languages (Humphries, 2011). Speaking in front of other people is the most anxiety provoking (Liu, 2012). Below is a definition of anxiety and language anxiety as presented by Humphries (2011):
Anxiety is, “the subjective feeling of tension, apprehension, nervousness, and worry associated with an arousal of the autonomic nervous system” (Humphries, 2011, p. 66).
Language anxiety is, “the feeling of tension and apprehension specifically associated with foreign language contexts, including speaking, listening, and learning”.
This study analyses the relationship between one of these factors, i.e. language anxiety, and its relationship to foreign language learning.
1.1 Statement of the Problem
For many foreign language learners, there is a real fear of performing in the foreign language this fear is mostly known as foreign language anxiety. This norm can be a palaver for the students and has been found to have a significantly negative impact on their performance in the foreign language (Humphries, 2011). This problem needs immediate addressing to find solutions to reduce and overcome foreign language anxiety and thus improve learners’ level of proficiency in the foreign language studied.
1.2 Purpose and Scope
