Primary Objective
The aimed strategy of PSYOP is to avoid the growth of the smoking rate and to target pregnant women with demands-making, informational, and supportive measures. 2 Needs Assessment Overview
1 Definition. A needs assessment is an analysis in accordance with the definition, identification, and specification of a particular community and its needs, as well as the capabilities and expectations of the community members. The major purpose is to build a wide data bank that can be used to come up with the best intervention program to meet society’s needs (Royse et al., 2015).
2 Steps.
1 Identification of the Target Population. Initially, it is crucial to select the appropriate population for the program (Royse et al., 2015).
2 Data Collection. An important component of needs assessment is the identification of diverse sources to gather inclusive information pertaining to the current state of the target group, their issues, and requirement. It can also be a quantitative analysis and a qualitative analysis which means that it can be very informative of the overall picture (Royse et al., 2015).
3 Evaluation of Current Conditions. Examining the collected information leads to realizing the current situation, such as the increased rate of pregnant women's smoking, the presence, and availability of smoking cessation materials and resources, as well as the general health consequences associated with smoking during pregnancy (Royse et al., 2015).
