By the term slavery one recalls the black immigrants forced workers during the world wars. During this time, people were taken as slaves to work in other countries. Human rights were unheard of and social injustices were all over the world. In that time, people were enslaved to perform duties under coercion. However, different or similar slavery exist in modern times. Examples of modern slavery include child exploitation, forced marriages, debt bondage, and trafficking among others CITATION Ant17 \l 1033 (Anti-slavery, 2017). Therefore, engaging an individual in an activity forcefully or through manipulation is slavery. In most occasions, the person has no free will to disengage from such activities.
The International Labor Organization (ILO) gives an estimation of 21 million people worldwide being involved in forced labor. This figure indicates the prevalence of contemporary slavery. 90% of these population get exploited by companies or individuals as 22% are injured through sexual harassment CITATION Ant17 \l 1033 (Anti-slavery, 2017). The poor and marginalized lack money and resources and are affected the most. However, women and girls are also more vulnerable to trafficking especially for sex trafficking and forced marriages. Due to the limited economic opportunities, these individuals fall prey to deceptive job offers. The worsening economic conditions currently affecting many countries has seen the increasing trend in modern slavery CITATION Jul15 \l 1033 (Davidson, 2015).
The rising growth in population can also cause the persistent in slavery today. With a vast pool of individuals against scarce resources with employment being one of them, abuse sets in. Consequently, the international anti-slavery law is not...
